Join us for an engaging discussion on the journeys experienced by international doctors and nurses who arrive in Britain, eager to share their expertise. Learn about the process they undergo to gain professional registration, and the challenges they face when trying to register and find work to support our NHS. Carers on the Move features an interactive conversation between the public, practitioners, and researchers bringing together first-hand testimonies from immigrant healthcare workers, a Q&A session, and a historical perspective on the immigration of healthcare professionals in Britain.
The Making it to the Registers project team Marie-Andrée Jacob, Priyasha Saksena, and Amrita Limbu (University of Leeds), and Nasreen Ali, Rukia Saleem, and Britzer Paul Vincent Paul Raj (University of Bedfordshire) are joined by Nelson Enah (nurse), Sun Sander-Jackson (nurse), Dr Rajeev Gupta (doctor & BAPIO representative), and Emma Mathews and Blerta Ilazi (ReSTORE) for the event.
Making it to the Registers, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, explores the historical and contemporary impacts of professional registration on the movement of migrant healthcare professionals in the UK.
