Project Team’s Corner
Professor Nasreen Ali and Rukia Saleem from the University of Bedfordshire led several outreach events throughout February 2024 to help contribute to the development of an inclusive health and social care workforce, as part of the Collaborative Targeted Outreach Programme (CTOP).
The Collaborative Targeted Outreach Programme aims to engage with young people, parents, career-switchers, and under-represented groups from diverse ethnic backgrounds to improve their knowledge and perceptions of nursing, midwifery, allied health professions and social work. These events were interactive, and attendees were able to find out about courses and careers in health and social care, had the opportunity to hear personal career stories and take part in debates, and much more.
Alongside these community sessions, Nasreen and Rukia also hosted two outreach events targeted at local schools, encouraging pupils to think about a career in health and social care. Pupils were able to visit the University’s simulation suite and experience events and procedures in a safe environment.
